Some people say that driving along the freeways in the San Diego area is an acquired skill. While there is some truth to having to learn proper defensive driving on these roads, they are still often seen as some of the most dangerous roads in the state. Knowing what roads are more prone to accidents and how you can avoid crashes can offer you the extra level of protection you need while driving.
Where and how to practice extra caution
It is important to never take your safety for granted, even for the most experienced drivers. You should always practice safe driving techniques on the road, but a few roads in the area call for extra caution. Three of the most dangerous roads are:
- Interstate 15, ranging between Miramar Way to Scripps Poway Parkway
- Interstate 5, between San Ysidro Boulevard to Marina Parkway in Chula Vista
- Interstate 5, going from Harbor Drive in National City to the Airport exit
While on these roads, be sure to look out for erratic drivers, those who are weaving between lanes, driving at irregular speeds, or appear to be distracted by their phones or something else in their car.
Do not take chances with your safety
If you find yourself on any of these, or other busy roads in the San Diego area, be sure you are looking after yourself and your passengers by practicing extra precaution. A few extra moments to ensure you are driving safely can far outweigh never arriving at your destination at all.
